TXT L8R Program
One of my senior projects was the TXT L8R program with Officer Barnes.
This program strives to get as many people to pledge not to text and drive. It was started by HTC and they send boxes of pledges and thumb bands to Horry County high schools.
For this project, Officer Barnes made announcements for the event and when it was going to be held (April 11th during both lunches). She also made up posters and had me post them all over the school.
I was surprised at how many students pledged not to text and drive. They received a light blue thumb band to remind them of their pledge if they tried to text while driving.

Distracted Driving Demonstration
The other half of my senior project was car safety with pre-k through 3rd grade students.
I wanted to demonstrate the dangers of distracted driving but in a non-graphic and kid-friendly way. I decided to have the students play Doodle Jump, a game on the ipad, while walking in a straight line. This showed how being distracted can be detrimental to driving.
The students were surprised at how hard it was to play the game and walk in a straight line. It was a successful project.
