Blood Vessels:
- The main purpose is to transport blood through the body.
- 3 major types: arteries (carry blood away from the heart), capillaries (exchange of water and chemicals between blood and tissues), and veins (carries blood from capillaries to the heart).
- The capillaries are the smallest type of blood vessel
- The arteries and veins are made out of layers of muscle; the middle layer is thicker in the arteries than in the veins.
- Capillaries have a little more than one layer of tissue
- The aorta is the largest artery
