Heart:
- Made up of cardiac muscle fibers
- Located in the center of the chest and is the size of a fist
- The wall is composed of 3 layers: the endocardium (inner layer), the myocardium (middle layer), and the epicardium (outer layer).
- It is encased in a pleural sac called the pericardium
- There are four chambers: the left atrium, the left ventricle, the right atrium, and the right ventricle.
- 3 circulatory systems: pulmonary (de-oxynigation and oxygination through lungs), systemic (oxygenated blood through aorta to all parts of the body except the lungs and back), and coronary circulation (blood supply to the myocardium through coronary arteries).
